All About Brake Flushes

European Auto Repair Ann Arbor

Have you had a brake flush recently? What does a brake fluid flush do for your vehicle?

A brake flush cleans out all your old brake fluid, as well as any water vapor or particulates that may have accumulated. If a brake flush isn’t done on a regular schedule - every 20,000 miles or 2 years - moisture can build up in your lines. If that happens, it can cause corrosion or rusting of the metal materials. This buildup can severely impact your ability to brake properly brake, which can be very dangerous. Maintaining your brake pads and rotors and getting regularly scheduled brake flushes is imperative to keeping your vehicle operating properly!

Things to Remember About Autumn Driving

European Auto Repair Ann Arbor

Are you and your vehicle ready for cooler weather, leaves, and longer evenings? It’s in your best interest to have necessary seasonal maintenance done before the winter cold creeps in.

  • Schedule your oil change! We talk a lot about oil changes at ArborMotion, and for good reason. Your engine oil is one of the most important components inside your vehicle. If your oil is dirty or low, it can cause problems that turn into catastrophes if left unchecked.
  • Schedule your tire swap if you use seasonal tires. Keep an eye on the weather predictions, and schedule your appointment accordingly. Winter tires are meant for cold temperatures and snowy and slushy conditions. Schedule your appointment for days 45 degrees or higher, or when mother nature is predicting snow in the forecast.
  • General maintenance is a good idea! Your manufacturer has a schedule of recommended maintenance at specific mile-intervals. General maintenance is important to keep up with to ensure your vehicle will perform at its peak for years to come.
  • Check your emergency kit! Make sure your backup battery is charged, that you have a fresh bottle of water stored, and snacks are fresh and still edible. As the weather gets chilly, make sure you also have a blanket, a small shovel, and either sand or some grip-pads just in case you need to get yourself out of a slippery situation.
  • Get a brake inspection if you’re uncertain of the health of your brakes. If you’re hearing any noises, or feeling any “squish” when applying the brakes, an inspection is a necessity. Brakes get an extra workout during the winter, so be sure your brakes are in proper working order.  Learn more about your brakes here.
